About Rob Smith
My name is Rob Smith. I’m a native Charlottean, UNC-Chapel Hill graduate and life-long experience collector. I worked in residential and commercial real estate in Charlotte from 1998 to 2001 before selling everything I owned and moving to Christchurch, New Zealand.
What was meant to be a one-year trip set off an unexpected chain of events that lasted for fourteen years across three different countries. I went from New Zealand, where I earned an MA in Theatre and Film Studies, to three cities in China–Shanghai, Wuhan and the tiny town of Ma’an–and then back to New Zealand to pursue my PhD. Experiencing two major earthquakes in Christchurch changed my mind about graduate school, and I found myself on a plane to Tokyo, Japan.
Moving to Tokyo was the best decision of my life. At my first job, I met my wife Erika, who is from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Shortly after we got married, we began making plans to move back to Charlotte. We arrived in Charlotte in June 2015 and I resumed my real estate career.
Life has been good to us since we moved. My real estate business is growing each month and at the same time I’m continuing to publish my own mystery series and science fiction series. Best of all, we have two beautiful daughters, Aurora and Aspen. Learning to be parents and watching our daughters grow has brought us more joy then we could’ve imagined.
The experiences I have collected over the years have prepared me to return home and provide the highest level of service to my real estate clients. Living abroad and working in multi-cultural environments has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, ask the right questions and embrace the diverse perspectives of those around me. I would love the opportunity to meet you and hear about your life experiences while working with you to buy or sell your home.
